Biography

Rabbi Yosef Galimidi is one of the leading Sephardic rabbinic figures in South Florida and serves as the Senior Rabbi of Edmond J. Safra Synagogue in Aventura, Florida. Prior to assuming this position in 2008, Rabbi Galimidi served for 14 years as the rabbi of Shaare Ezra Sephardic Congregation in Miami Beach, where he guided the community through Torah teaching, halachic leadership, and communal growth.

Born and educated across South America, New York, New Jersey, and Florida, Rabbi Galimidi received Semicha from Rabbi Yehuda Y. Yeruslavsky and was subsequently ordained by the Rishon LeZion, Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu zt”l, with the endorsement and blessings of the Sephardic Rabbinical Council of New York.

Fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hebrew, Rabbi Galimidi serves a diverse international community and is regularly consulted by congregants, rabbis, and community leaders on matters of halacha and communal guidance. He serves on the Executive Rabbinical Board of Kosher Miami and is involved with the Erub Council, the Mikveh, and the Rabbinical Board of Hatzalah South Florida.

Under Rabbi Galimidi’s leadership and guidance, major Torah and communal institutions have been established in South Florida, including the Grace Cayre Ladies & Dish Mikveh, the Ezra Franco Sephardic Kollel, Joseph Safra Ohr HaTorah High School, Ohr HaTorah Middle School, and Bet Din Bet Yosef of South Florida.

Known for his warmth, clarity, and practical Torah guidance, Rabbi Galimidi delivers daily shiurim that inspire audiences locally and internationally. He serves as the Nasi and guiding rabbinic authority of Bet Din Bet Yosef of South Florida.
